288 and 286 East 3rd Street, Avenue C, January 1977 photo, the photo must have been taken at a late hour of the day or it was very overcast because the photo was very dark and as a result- grainier than usual. I ran it through photoshop to correct some of the problems and lighten it a little. The building also was painted purple, so that didn't help the image very well either!

The terra-cotta grotesque keystones and other decoration which were painted black were a very unusual terra-cotta, a rusty orange color with black specks which I had never seen anywhere else.
